For Sale
R-1200/C "Phoenix" Cruiser  and a R100-R/T

Additional pictures are below.

I have a BMW 2001 Model R-1200C "Phoenix" Cruiser
and a 1979 R100-R/T for sale.

First the R-1200/C  "Phoenix"
Asking $8,000.00

The reason I am letting go of this great bike is that I was hit by a car within the crosswalk 300 feet from the main entrance of the Charles George VA Hospital in Asheville NC.  This put me in the hospital for 2 months and then 3 months in rehab.  My right knee is still not really strong enough to keep the bike upright when stopped.  Also my left foot was crushed under the cars front tire and it has never gotten back together properly.

This bike has been kept in a dry dehumidified storage area all the time that I have owned it.

This bike has 12088 actual miles on it at this time. New front tire and new rear tire.  Eurosport (BMW Dealer) in Asheville went through the bike and replaced the air filter and battery.  In addition, they pulled a complete service on the bike meaning in addition to oil and filter, brake fluid, they inspected all fluids etc. and then did a NC State inspection as well.  The bike is ready to ride today.  The bike has a current tag and has a valid state inspection.

The small box on the rack has been taken off but could be put back on if desired or a larger box could be installed. The luggage rack is removable if desired. The windshield is a BMW Factory standard full shield and was installed by the Eurosport BMW dealer.  The original small café fairing is stored away if one desires to remount this on this bike instead of having a full windsheild.  The saddlebags currently on the bike are the largest version offered by BMW for this bike. I have installed custom bar setbacks for the handlebars and have the original handlebars and setbacks plus the shorter cables if you desired to be restored back to a stripped down and basic style & look.

The crash bars or case guards were installed for two purposes. First to give you somewhere to put your feet while riding other than on the foot pegs and second to protect the cylinder's (jugs) if the bike fell over. These are factory supplied accessories.

I have a special battery charger / maintainer system to keep the battery from going bad which comes with the bike.

I have a BMW Electric Jacket and Electric Gloves that are wired to plug into the bikes electrical system.  This is included with the bike. This will keep you very toasty in the winter time allowing for year around riding baring no ice or snow !!

The storage box which was removed was used to hold a HAM (Amateur radio) 2 meter transceiver which I use when working with bicycle events or traveling.  If one is licensed for ham radio then this radio and antenna with mount could be included with this bike.

Now to the 1979   R-100 R/T
Asking $1,500.00

This bike is almost ready to ride but will require a little more work to get it back on the road.  The disc brakes will need to be reworked and the wiring in the headlamp shell need to be finished up. The engine has had a complete rebuild of the jugs and harder no lead valves and seats are installed for using no lead gas.

The 1979 model year was the last year that BMW made a smog free - epa free - motorcycle. This bike has had the New NO LEAD valve seats and valves installed in the jugs. The R-100R/T was in the process of being put back on the road but due to the injury I had - I have not quite completed the job.  I have (9) nine boxes of spare misc. parts Plus the factory training / service manuals for R-bikes from the R-750/5 (1965) through this bike but does not include the manuals for the R-69 and prior or the K Bikes.  To much to list here in what parts I have but they are compatible with all most all of the R series bikes.  All of these parts will go with this bike when purchased. The boxes are shown in the photos below.

The Bing carbs have been modified with the Bing NO LEAD Gas modification kit making them compatible with the ethanol additive use in todays gas.  This modification was done by Bing at their US Service center. The mufflers are Stay-tuned Stainless Steel Mufflers.

Included are the Lufmaster side fuel tanks that are mounted on the bike at this time. They each hold 1 gal. each in addition to 4.7 gals on the main tank making a total of about 6.7 gals.  There is a Stainless Steel mesh inside each side tank to control fuel motion. These are stock as supplied by Lufmaster. I also have a spare main fuel tank for this bike that could be custom painted if desired. It is suppose to be the larger 5.75 gal. tank. The bags are full size Lufmaster bags that are not shown.  However I also have a second smaller set of bags for this bike as well. Included is the original stock factory seat. The Corbin custom saddle is currently mounted on the bike.

I will try to get good photos of the Lufmaster Fairing which is the one that came off of this bike.  The one for this bike is Red and Silver and is complete with its frame mounting.

The Saeing Fairing as seen in the photos is also almost complete with most of the 6 point mounting hardware and could be remounted as a 4 point mounting. Although parts for this fairing are no longer available, you could contact Saeing to see if the hardware could still available available.

Please feel free to contact me if you are really interested in either of these bikes.  Should someone want both at the same time then a better price could be worked out for everything. I would like to see them go to someone who will be riding them again.  The 1200c is a road bike and the 100 R/T is great on the twisties.  I loved both bike and I still try to ride the 1200c when I have someone to ride with.  I do not ride alone anymore.

Please contact me if you are really interested at the following:

Back in 1998 showing the 2 meter HAM antenna

Back in 1998

Note that the fairing is the one the bike came with.

Above is the bike in 1998 with the Saeing fairing on.
Left is when I was working with The Assault On Mt.
Mitchell Bicycle Challenge as Lead Motorcycle Rider.

The Assaults in 1994 had a total of 1400 bicycle
riders leaving Spartanburg SC heading to the top of
Mt. Mitchell - a total of +11,000 vertical feet of
climbing in 102 miles in a one day event starting
at 0630 hours and ending at 2000 hours.
Below is a 2001 model R-1200-C bike with many extras.

R-1200/C with additions of Windshield, Saddlebags
and luggage rack for 2m HAM (Amateur) Radio. The
Back rest folds down to form a passenger seat.

Note that the black box on the rack is designed
to hold a Amateur - Ham -  2 meter radio and the
antenna is part of that system. This all has been
removed but the rack is still in place.

The odometer shows the actual mileage on the bike

Case guards were installed to protect the engine
and to give a place to put your feet.

Showing the custom bar backs made for this bike.
These were ordered from Calif. as a kit for this bike.
This included the handlebars.
There were dealer installed.

Mount holding the Radio Control Head between
custom bar back. Radio head and main radio
has been removed. Licensed for HAM Radio then the
radio and antenna etc is available if desired.
This bike is factory wired for an electric jacket and
gloves as well as for battery maintenance when
parked for long periods of time.  The battery tender is
fully automatic and it comes with this bike.  The seat
has a aux. saddle pad that make it easier to move
around on. The windshield has a mount for a GoPro
Camera attached to it. This can be removed if desired.
All of the mounting for the cafe fairing has been
stored and is included with this bike should you want
to put it back on. I do not recommend it unless you
like bugs and gravel hitting you !! I have the Climers
bike manual showing all of the necessary part for
maintenance of this bike. BMW does not offer a
manual except on PDF to the dealers. The
Factory Tool Kit and Owners manual are included
with this bike as well as rain gear.
